I was in love
I was elated
and devastated
all at once

It was full on
and complicated
just the way it's
supposed to be
with first love

I was a fool
just like old poets
writing sonnets
in the snow

It was a mess
melodramatic
and there you have it
first love

Then I grew up and realized
that although first love never dies
there comes a point you wonder why
like oh my God
I can't believe I fell so hard
All for what I wear these scars?
But I guess it was worth the while
cause I had a first love
